Brobucker in alder Strat??

Hello all,

Been a long time since I posted here (although I did recently sell my PJ Marx pickup after being in the emporium over a year).

Anyway, I have a 1987 American Standard Strat that currently has DiMarzio Fast Tracks in all 3 positions. I'm looking for a heavier sound. I have a brobucker coming my way soon and I wanted to hear opinions on this pickup in the bridge position of an alder-bodied start.

Also, any recommendations for a neck pickup (Pearly Gates is my first guess).

I don't usually play with any distortion heavier than an AC/DC type crunch and I use primarily a ProCo Rat when I want smooth, sustaining lead tones.

Re: Brobucker in alder Strat??

i ran a brobucker with the pearly gates and loved it.

the brobucker is perfect for ac/dc level of crunch and should sound great in your strat

Re: Brobucker in alder Strat??

Thanks Jeremy. In your opinion, is the pickup better suited to an alder/rosewood Strat or a Chambered Mahogany/Maple necked Tele (an old Warmoth build)???

Re: Brobucker in alder Strat??

im sure it would sound great in either. i have one in a chambered alder/maple body maple/ebony neck tele and another in an alder rw board strat. kicks lots of ass in both of em.

Re: Brobucker in alder Strat??

I've tried mine in an alder/maple strat as well as a mahogany/full rosewood neck warmoth VIP. It rocks in both. Great lead sound in the Strat. My VIP is very dark naturally. With the bro sounds ultra thick and crunchy but will lose clarity with mid to high gain. . In a mahogany/maple combo it should be right at home

Re: Brobucker in alder Strat??

I used to have my Brobucker installed in a swamp ash and maple Partsocaster. Sounded very good. Could be turned to almost anything.

Re: Brobucker in alder Strat??

Well, I'll be sure to post a tone report when I have her all installed. Thanks for the input everyone.
