Brobucker selling rules?

Just want to make sure I don't break any rules. I wasn't around for the initial batch obviously, and what I have is from the initial batch.

I'm also not sure I want to sell it, but I might need money soon. I'm fairly sure I remember there being a cap on how much you can sell it for, so I want to make sure I abide by the rules.

Thanks!

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

i believe that it is $100 since that was the initial cost

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

I guess I'm dumb or just out of the loop. Why can't you charge whatever you want for a used one? Can't you still get them new?

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

Yeah, the deal was you couldn't sell it unused on ebay for profit. If its used you are free to sell for what the market will pay. Most people on the bay won't know what a "Brobucker" is anyway so its not likely to be an issue either way

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

Well I'm not selling it on eBay, but I can easily get more than $100 here.

But if Jeremy is saying it's a $100 cap, I don't want to break that. Does anybody know for sure?

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

it's your property mate, I think people were just trying to keep them amoungst the forum community at a guess. Rather than dissapearing on ebay, others can try them

It was my understanding that there is a standing agreement on price and where you can sell it. I'm sure someone will chime in with the actual rules.

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

Well BigAlBird if you decide to sell it consider me. I really have heard great things about it and would love to try it out!

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

They've been selling on this forum for more than $100.

Seems to me that kind of gentleman’s agreement was to stop people from flipping them for profit as an unauthorized dealer and allow forumites who really wanted them to buy them. Enough time has passed and you can get them from Duncan anyway, so I see no reason that such an agreement, while understandable at the time, should still be held up.

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

Well I'll tell you all, if I do sell it, it'll be a lottery type thing, seeing as I've already had a bunch of PMs about it.

But I've got no idea right now whether I'm selling or not, so don't get your hopes too high.

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

Yeah I actually looked at about the last 20 that sold before I typed this thread. Most of them (if not all) went for $105 or $110. But is that just adhering to an archaic rule, as Carrot says? Or should I stick to it?

Because the bottom line is, I could sell this for more. If I'm not stepping on any toes, I will do just that. But if I am stepping on toes or breaking a rule that existed before me and is still enforced today, I won't do it.

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

The original run sold for $100 + $5 shipping and we were not to sell them as "new" for more than that price.

Thanks for clearing that up too Ryan - the original rules seemed to exist to prevent people buying a bunch, and then selling them elsewhere, billed as an otherwise unattainable pickup, for massive profit.

But (beating a dead horse now), is anyone gonna care if I ask $130 or something on here, selling to a forum bro?

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

I seem to recall the agreement was to not sell them NEW at an inflated price (i.e. flipping them for profit). I don't recall any mention of used Brobucker sales.

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

I wouldnt ask anymore than 110.00 for it...or rather i wouldnt pay anymore. It gotsta have some of that original mojo.If its a later custom shop , maybe 120.00.
hey, didnt you get it for ,like, 105? ... your not gonna turn around and off it for more than you paid for it right here are you?So soon? .That wouldnt sit right quite with me, either selling or seeing it sold.

Well I think it would be in poor taste to buy it for $105 and then resell it for a profit in the same forum.

Re: Brobucker selling rules?

yeah sell it for the standard price. Seymour Duncan should make another forum specific pickup...
