Broken down 95 Strat and Pickup question

Hello there ! Long time reader but this is my both first post and first thread , here we go . Last year i bought and 95 MIM Strat , it was very cheap then i didnt understand why its so cheap but now i do . Every piece of electronic equipment is dead now . Pots , pickups etc . I have couple of variations in my head about the pickups :

1. Stk s4 neck
Stk s4 middle
Stk s6 bridge
2. Stk s6 neck
Stk s4 middle
Stk s7 bridge

First choice seems more close to me because im a big fan of both Hendrix and Gilmour but somewhere in this forum someone write in some positions guitar sounds so differently and it made me worried about it .

Second choice makes me confused actually , it seems like it has more tonal capabilities and more balanced but im really worried about that bluesy rock tone and i couldnt find decent videos or reviews about this setup .

I use neck pickup a lot and i love blues and trying to play blues (although i seriously dont think i understand blues) like Clapton , ZZ Top , Cray , SRV , B.B. King , Bonamassa , Mayer that whole Crossroads line-up to be exact actually and i really enjoy alternative rock bands like Pearl Jam , Radiohead , REM , White Stripes , Soundgarden (because of their blues roots of these bands ) etc. For the bridge in this guitar the owner before me put Hot rails in it , i liked it but not that much and actually that was the first pickup got broken and i sometimes need a "punch" in the bridge .

And a friend of mine changed his pickups in his Les Paul to Pearly Gates set and i loved it . IMO its the ultimate blues/rock pickup and if i can get anything close to that without putting a humbucker in the guitar i'd be very glad . So called the "bite" of the pickups are amazing .

I think 250k pots would be good for any of these single coil pickups . I wanted to get the true single coil pickups but the hum drives me crazy and i dont know anyone good for the shielding (I moved hungary 3 years ago for my studies , by the way does any of you live in hungary and can suggest me a good luthier in Budapest , Debrecen or Pecs ?) .

Re: Broken down 95 Strat and Pickup question

There will be plenty of opinions on stack pickups, but mine is that they are dull and miss the 'liveliness' that something like the pearly gates has. I only put true singles in, however if hum is a nightmare then maybe you'll need the stacks for that.

I find that its easy to get most rock/grunge tones simply by adding more fuzz or distortion. If you put in hot pickups then the subtle nuances of blues will be harder to get. I'd go with a ssl 5 for bridge, and ssl 1's for neck and middle. I'm pretty sure there are stack equivalents of all of these.

Re: Broken down 95 Strat and Pickup question

i have a two strats with duncan noiseless pups. my suggestion is to get the stk4 in the middle and neck and either the stk6 or stk7 for the bridge with 250k pots

the stk4 is great in the neck and middle and i really like the stk6. i have an stk7 but i havent put it in anything yet but have high hopes for it.

the stk4/stk4/stk6 setup is the noiseless version of the ssl1/ssl1/ssl5 combo
