Broken magnet... still usable?

Title. :( To top it off it's my Alnico 8 magnet that I was looking forward to making a Custom 8 with. Something tells me that it will work fine if I put it in a pickup, but... Will output be halved? Tape vs glue?

it'll work fine. You may not want to tape it unless you really like the DiMarzio "air bucker" sound. I'd use a 2 part epoxy, as I'm not sure how well super glue will work, but It's not the end of the world for that mag. Experiment man it's fun!

I did the exact same thing, with the same magnet. Mine worked fine. I didn't even glue it. Just lined it up and stuffed it in.

OK... I did it and everything worked out okay. I google searched "airbucker" (I'm familiar with Dimarzio Air Zone) and found out that all that meant was reducing the magnetic pull to give the pickup a more airy or open tone. Sound right? Because the alnico 8 is a crazy output pickup it sounds really weird and cool. So I wrapped the mag in two coats of electrical tape before swapping it with a ceramic. It was a tight fit and now the humbucker coils aren't really snug against each other. I must say that this pup goes pretty well with my guitar, which is an alder bodied superstrat with a maple top and a 1pc maple neck.

Some clips (forgive the slop. Also my D string kept going out of tune as I had just changed the low strings):

(the intro to the second clip was me playing around with parallel wiring with a the inner coil of the C8 and inner coil of a '59... sounds ****in' sweet IMO)
