Broken Tube.

I pulled one of the tubes out of my power amp to check the grade before I order more and when it came out (yes, I bent the retaining ring back and pulled strait out) the centre locating pin left inside the socket.

I pulled the pin out, but what I'd like to know is, is it still safe to use this tube (if I'm carefull) until the new ones come in?

As far as I can tell, it's just the plastic base that broke, none of the glass is damaged, and I'm pretty sure I didn't break it when I pulled it out, so I think it's been like that for awhile....

If no glass or metal is damaged, you're good to go.

Looks can be decieving, it could be damaged, but you can't see it. Use it at your own risk. It wont destroy the amp is something wrong, but it can short some stuff out

I guess this is my own fault for not keeping spares around.

I'm pretty sure you guys are right, but pretty sure isn't good enough for me right now. I think I'll play it safe and run it minus one tube. There's seven more in there, so it's not like I'm suffering or anything.
