Hey guys...

I just brought my first strat of ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=3746591502&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

The last couple of days I have been playing strats all over sydney...getting ideas of prices and subtle differences in them all...I came across a really nice 1989 Strat Plus Delux for $2000AU and a Earlier clapton strat for $2500AU...

Money's kinda limited and im a bit reluctant to give up most of my savings for this baby..Im kinda worried already about the state of the guitar and if its a fair price... Anyone know much about the model and if these dings will effect the tone...

Considering the a new MIA standard goes for around $2000AU and a MIA Strat Delux goes for around $2500AU, I thought this was pretty good value

Thanks louise

Re: Brought my first strat

I think that you should look at if from a playability standpoint. That is a very nice looking guitar, and the dings are on the sides/bottom. As for resale....eh. Look at it this way, you bought it...right? If you get it and it's just not for you, or whatever, you should be able to get most if not all of your money back. You paid what the market will bear, and it will bear it again for you if need be.

In my opinon, and unlike the way I view other guitars, strats look better in many cases when they are beat up a little. More character.

Just done the conversion from AUS and its £367 and $652 repectively. I think for the price that you have paid and also the SD pups in them you have got a winner.

You might find that when the guitar arrives those major dents and dings may look awful but, look beyond that and play the thing and make sure it is what you want. You also might find that the re-lacquered neck may just need some slight sanding with 000 wire wool, but you'll know if it needs it or not. If you don't like it, I am sure you can sell it for what you paid for it or use it as a project strat and buy another one.

Do enjoy it and let us know what you think of it when you finally get it into your hands.
