BTMN GOTW #9 To End The Year On A Golden Note...

BTMN

LifeIsGoodologist
Well wntbtw has been asking for KB, almost since week one. :eyecrazy: :naughty: :scratchch

KB is short for Korina Baby but I might have to change that after my custom Dean Baby Z in Korina get completed soon. KB is a 1996 Hamer Standard #91/100. Hamer did 100 Standards like mine with White guards and a few with Black guards. I've taken mine off and dont regret it at all. Even the eight holes dont bother me. :) Stock Duncan '59N and JBB onboard and sounding good.

Before guard removal at the previous owner's house back in 2008 before I got it.

Man, I love some Korina.....

YMMV...

I'd vote for "with" the pickguard, personally - looks killer with it on.

+1,000,000.

LOVE the look with the guard. A korina explorer with gold hardware and white pickguard - that's about as good as it gets for my taste.

Re: BTMN GOTW #9 To End The Year On A Golden Note...

Thank you for this! I`ve been hoping this would be one of your 'GOTW'! One of the best looking guitars I have ever seen--beautiful wood color and grain--wow! Made my day! I think it looks kinda 'unique' without the pickguard as it seems that every Explorer you see has one. Either way it has to be one of the prettiest guitars ever made--and it`s great that it`s yours! Thanks again for all of the great pictures you have shared of this guitar. Very very nice!

Re: BTMN GOTW #9 To End The Year On A Golden Note...

Thanks guys. Out of all the guitars I have ever seen, the '58 Gibson Explorer was/is my favorite guitar. A Mahogany one is great too but Korina flips it up a notch or two for me! I wanted one of these '96 limited edition Hamers for 12 years before one came my way and I let it happen. I played this all day yesterday and it has moved back up the list of my favorites. I'm a lucky sob to have collected some fun guitars. Glad ya'll enjoy the views. :approve: :23:

Re: BTMN GOTW #9 To End The Year On A Golden Note...

I hate to see beautiful wood covered with plastic - leave the 'guard off. Yeah it looks nice and Olde Skoole, but Gibson aren't known for being the sharpest knives in the drawer when it comes to looks.

Besides, as long as there's not a channel routed for the wiring, where's the harm?

And it's not a Gibson, so it shouldn't have to look like one. Let Gibson use the p-guard, let the Hamers run naked through the street.

Another vote for that. It's beautiful. It looks great with the gold hardware.

Agreed with all of the above. Might look great with a black guard on it, too, but I still say white's the best for that guard.

Beautiful pics, though I'd be tempted to 'Shop out those guard holes.

Helluvan axe you got there, mang!

OK--I`m bumping this up for a beautiful Hamer 'Explorer' guitar!. Anyone else agree that this is gorgeous?!?

Re: BTMN GOTW #9 To End The Year On A Golden Note...

Really like that one huh? I dig it's '04 Vector cousin too.

That`s a beautiful Hamer 'Flying V' but your Hamer 'Explorer' is about as 'good looking' as a guitar can get I think. Thanks again for sharing some great pictures of it--very enjoyable!
