Building a bass rig...

Empty Pockets

BadHairDayologist
My sister wants to convert part of the house into a studio and wants me to help her get amps and stuff. I'm mainly curious about bass amps right now.

The sound I want is the bass tone from Weezer's blue album and Pinkerton, or Converge's Jane Doe...both bands used an Orange head with an Ampeg 8x10 but i don't think that's in the budget so...are there any cheaper solutions for that crunchy, full, slightly overdriven-but-can-get-clean bass tone?

Re: Building a bass rig...

For studio work, I'd just get a good bass amp modeler. I like the sounds and connectivity of the Boss GT-6B and the Sansamp Bass Driver DI.

The Boss will give you specific effects and bass amp sounds along with balanced outputs while the Sansamp eschews effects and only gives you bass amp flavors, not models.
