Hey guys!

We have been makin moves on this ep (and also trying to get a nice little 2 song teaser to burn onto cdrs and give out at shows and whatever) so we got icarus done with the new mix and with vocals (lyrics are up on the page as well)

Even though the mix has been revamped, its still good old DFHS and Podxt as usual.
I used my Petrucci 7 string and my Schecter 5 string bass for the parts and the Line 6 toneport with my AT4033 mic to record vocals.

Seriously, this stuff sounds so DIFFERENT with vocals, it's insane... very, very good stuff, I like it better than the instrumentals! Jake's a great vocalist!

The only thing I'd change is do more of the half clean/half screamed stuff, the "Sky keeps calling my name" line-ish stuff.

hey thanks a lot dudes im really happy you guys dig it cuz we really worked hard on this one!!

yeah man, jake has this technique for screaming, its weird but although lots of people have tried nobody i know can really pull it off the way he does, its just his voice you know? But its not loud (which is why we can record it in my apt haha) and even though we recorded all day he didnt lose his voice or hurt his throat, if you have either of those effects from screaming you should probably rework your technique or you will eventually destroy your vocal chords (which is the reason i dont even attempt to scream haha)

I have been trying to learn to growl/scream properly. It's not as easy as some people say it is(usually people who havent tried it).

It's definitely not easy. I can't at all. I have a friend that has been training his voice to get some screams. The 2nd link in my Sig *whenlovefell* has a song (Broken Heart Letter) where he screams some. Not the Best screams by any means, but I thought it was good for him. Very unexpected from the kid since he can sing so smooth.

Bulb - I totally dug this track as an instrumental, but as VK said it is so very different with the vocals added on. Cool stuff man!

wow i like this song alot better with the vocals.. i thought it would be the opposite. I like the guys voice, sounds like shadows fall but better hehe.

It's awesome Misha!It sounds really balanced ,the vocals fits perfect!And the allaround reverb is awesome!I love it .And would buy it!

ahh well technically icarus is just a section of my epic song "Juggernaut" which right now looks like its about 26 mins long, but its a work in progress. The part that comes next is posted on my soundclick site further down (its an older recording and its actually recorded a half step higher) but its called "Juggernaut Part 2" actually ill just link you:

Wow, I really like the whole contrasting thing you guys do on the second part. The mellow guitar with the weird timed heavy riff over it. Very cool.

STS: yeah the podxt has treated me well haha especially for a silent amp, but i have been hearing a lot of talk about this palmer speaker simulator for tube amps that i want to try out, cuz my friend got one and sent me a clip and the tone is great! Anyone know anything about those? I could crank my engl and/or vht and record silently!!

Sounded great, man. I know this is blasphemy from a guitarist, but the vocals could be a little louder.

man that flat out KICKED ASS!!! i tend to poke a stick at growling/screaming vocal style but the contrast of his style when he opens up more and when he growls/screams works very well. his voice sounds like someone when it's more open but i can't place it yet....very good though i hope to hear more of that in future stuff! plus i flat out LOVE how the intro sounds so lo-fi (for lack of a better term) and weak then it just slaps you in the face with the full on tone. great idea!
