Burned-Out Pot Or...

I mentioned my house is incredibly noisy lately for single coils.

So here's what I've noticed: Little noise with volume on full, no noise with volume zero, in between, greater amounts of noise. I have two guitars that do this; one to a more extreme degree, another to a moderate degree. My other guitars do not do this.

If all my ground/polarity is fine should I be looking to replace pots now? Tried cleaning with contact cleaner, didn't really help.

It is unlikely both pots in both guitars are faulty, but not impossible. Usually it manifests with silence, not added noise, though. Pots are cheap, so it is a good idea to just upgrade them and eliminate that possibility.
