Burstbucker 1 or Pro (neck) for my SG's neck slot?

I have a 61 reissue SG that came stock with 57 classics. I find the neck pickup overly smooth and fat (although it cleans up nicely when the volume is rolled back). I'm considering a new neck pickup that would be tighter and more biting. The Burstbucker 1 and Pro (neck) are said to offer that thanks in part to their unmatched coils, but I'd like your opinion. I'm leaning toward the Pro because it is wax potted and I play loud! I don't want squealing.

Cheers

The BBP will definitely be tighter, brighter, more bite and attitude. Pearly Gates will also get what you want.

You may also want to just put an A5 mag in that '57.

Yes, you want to put a brighter mag in that PU. I don't like '57's in the neck slot with the stock A2 magnets, and they're too dark and muddy for me, and have a loose low end. An A5 or A3 will totally change that. Brighter and tighter. '57's are high-quality PU's, some of us just don't like the A2's Gibson puts in them. Get a mag for a couple bucks and you don't need to buy a new PU. If you need an A5, I'll send you one for free.

I wouldn't go the PGN route, as it also has an A2, not wound as dark as a '57, but it still has a rounded high end.
