Buying a temporary amp

Hi guys,
as some of you know, i just arrived at Boston for about a week now and will be here for another 6 more weeks.
So i'm looking for a temporary small practise solid state amp (coz its would be cheaper).

I'm currently torn between 2 choices.
Line 6 SpiderII 15w for $50
Peavey Rage 158 15w(i think) for $50 as well.

I dont have any distortion/overdrive pedals or any pedals watsoever. but normally i play with just distortion and reverb/chorus

which should i get? i've never tried both before so i have no clue, but they're the cheapest small SS amps i can find so far.

Thanks,
Ken

Re: Buying a temporary amp

Behringer has a couple of tiny little modeling amps that kick butt as well.

yeah i know but these 2 are the only 2nd hand cheap solid state amps i can find so far. so its alot cheaper than buying anything new. plus i plan to sell it after my 6 weeks here so i dont lose any money or lose as little as possible when i resell it as a used amp

Not sure about this, but I think the Line 6 would be your best bet.

Why not get a small but good amp and take it home with you? Then you'll have a nice little portable for the next time you travel...

The Fender Champs are 190, thats not breaking the bank, and the resale value on one of those has to be pretty high.

well, i dont have the space, coz i'll be carrying 2 guitars back as well.
also i dont need a small amp and this is one of the rare times i travel longer than 2 weeks at one particular place.

hmm, also the power in singapore is 220-240v so if i bring this back i'd have to buy another step-up/down power converter.

coz after boston im going over to California, so i dont want any extra baggage.

Buy a Pod 2.0 used and use headphones, you'll be able to take that home with you too.

hmm, tahts a pretty interesting idea.
so say if i have an amp, how does the pod 2.0 work with it? same as a multi-efx pedal?
and also how does the pod2.0 sound thru tube amps. i was kinda thinking of getting a couple of analog pedals to go thru my amp

Re: Buying a temporary amp

I don't have experience with either of the amps that you have listed; however, I don't see how the Line 6 could be worse than the Peavey Rage.

Re: Buying a temporary amp

well, i just looked thru the pod website....seems that it needs a power adapter, hmm means i have to get a new one once i reach home coz the power voltage is diff. anyway i think i'l stick the the small amps first, coz a used POD 2.0 is about the same price as what i can find here.

Re: Buying a temporary amp

ok, think im gonna get the Spider II amp. i manage to bargain it to $45 bux.

thanks all
