Buzz buzz Tele

So after repainting my Tele putting in new pickups and finally getting it back together I am getting bad fret buzz mainly from the 2nd fret strings low E to G. I have put in lighter gauge strings went from 9 to 8. Already adjusted the saddles so know I got to much height past the 12th fret. What could be the problem?

yup and 8's are very light so youll need to adjust how you play. very easy to use too much force. id check the relief first and then look at the neck angle. those strings are buzzing on the 2nd fret when played open or when you play them at the 2nd fret they are hitting a higher fret?

I’d check the relief then. If you fret at the 2nd and it buzzes, it’s hitting something further up the neck

I loosened the truce rod and it got a better. Still got a buzz on the low e. Should I file down the first fret a little?

No, then that note will buzz. So you think your nut action is too low?

There's the set up and then there's the frets. A perfect setup can still buzz if the frets are uneven.

There’s also the possibility that the nut slot is cut too deep. No matter how good your setup is, an incorrectly cut nut will/can create fret buzz.
But, a little fret buzz is generally acceptable in an electric guitar. As long as it doesn’t deaden the note and it’s not audible while amplified.

Yes, you gotta do your best to get the set up sorted, including nut height. And then after that you sometimes realize enough is enough time to do some fret leveling.
