buzz noticed under high gain

Our Neighbor Totoro
i recently switched a high output pickup into one guitar and with moderate distortion i get this tinny pulsating buzzing tone on the B and high E, up and down the fretboard.

if I pick one note, and let it ring it's pretty bad. But if I mute all the other strings, it seems to go away.

I cant seem to replicate this in any other guitars .
help appreciated.

Re: buzz noticed under high gain

It could be that the pole pieces of the pickup are too close the strings, which can alter the way they vibrate.

It may also be as simple as old strings (high e and b strings always start to lose definition and intonation first for me). I've had strings in the past that were struck too hard against a fret, and so they developed a small kink which would create buzz and dissonance.

It would be easier if you could give us a quick clip of the sound, but it really does just sound like the pickups being too close to the strings. Adjust the pickups lower, or if you have adjustable pole-piece pickups then lower the poles themselves. If you are adjusting pickup height, try just lowering the treble side of the pickup.

I had this pole-piece problem with my Strat until I found some sweet spots. This is actually a common issue with single coil Strats, dubbed "Stratitis".

EDIT: Lower the treble side at first to rid yourself of the noise. Adjust the bass side of the pickup accordingly for balance.
Other than that, re-check the wiring/soldering.
