By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

I havn't had much time to record lately but i've finally done it. People seemed to have liked my last cover of Lamb of God and was requested to try redneck with the same setup which is my new Mesa Mark IV, my new charvel san dimas (Duncan JB/59) and a good old MD421, only pedals used was my carbon copy delay for the lead part the rest is just the amp. Again i wasn't going for a 100% reproduction of their sound, did this just for fun messing around with the LoG Producer Edition. I went for the whole song this time, let me know what you think!

I'm digging this, but the levels are throwing me off... right side is louder than left side. How do you have these panned??

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

Your where right... it was a bit off. It was the right side volume that was set only 0.8 higher tho, guess i must have moved it at one point and didnt notice when i did the mixdowns.. got it fixed now i think. Funny how you noticed such a small detail... i only noticed it after you pointed it out lol.

pretty awesome, I was wondering how this would sound. its my fav log song. disclaimer that Im not listening on studio monitors but I would say your tone or palm muting could be a smidgeon clearer/cleaner - maybe its just you need to add more? compression to the mix - a little dark. lots of busy work there, pretty awesome. you pretty much nailed it.

I could've been tighter, i recorded the tracks pretty much in maybe 15-20 min and theres a few slips here and there which could've sounded allot tighter and i think the sound i had on walk with me in hell sounded before but i couldn't figure out how i had it set up last time... this is the closet i could get. Didn't have much time like i said i did this pretty quick and didn't use any compression or anything like that.. just a small EQ'ing on the low end and this is a mp3 too, the wave does sounds slightly clearer.

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

right - for 15min take with no compression is pretty awesome like I was sayin.

I really dig mark iv. so Im looking forward to hearing your future clips - compression/eq/doubling rhythym tracks makes a big difference of course.

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

Boy that combo has some balls, the tuning helps I'm sure. Maybe not as tight sounding as a 4x12 but not bad. Good playing and tone even though I don't know the original.

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

heh I forgot it was an open back cab regarding tightness. sounds great.

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

Messing around with it i added some multi band comp and i think it sounds better, i updated them with it. I think it makes it sound bigger than somewhat tighter.

btw about doubling the guitars, they are doubled lol

Yeah this sounds awesome. I'm not really a fan of LoG, I like old school DM, but what you've done here is great. Sounds more like Pantera than death metal.
Sweet playing and recording tone.
Was it a real drummer?

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

Thanks for all the tips and cool comments! i'm really digging this new amp for this kinda stuff.. im currently working on Descending, its one of my favorite songs from that album and will probably post it when its done i'm gonna try to work on it a little more than the others with eq/comp and more editing to remove unwanted noises and etc to make it sound as best as i can. Im just doing these for fun and to test my recording skills for whenever my band comes around with the second album cuz i wasn't too happy with the first one altho like anything when you do something for the first time i guess you cant expect that much from it.. still sounded alright tho for a first.

Yea im not a huge fan of their tone but i do like most of the stuff they do. I think they could make those amps sound way better than what they do but thats just me some people dig that tone. The drums are from a real drummer ya, Chris Adler :P ...like mentioned on my page and on the top post, i used the tracks from LoG Producer Edition, they have the whole Sacrament album tracks seperated for you to use and do w/e you want with it, its rather cool that they did this and definitely fun to mess around with.. sound quality isnt as good and some of the effects aren't there like the dynamic eq/filter done at the beginning of Descending. Gotta do those yourself if you want those effects.

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

Sounds great, although I dob't listen to log (:D) or DM in general.

Re: By request, Redneck Lamb of god test with the Mark IV

Well done. I've been spinning this disk a lot lately in the car. Good rush hour music. :) Your guitars sound pretty good. Is that the original drum track? The tone sounds a bit different, though the track seems otherwise the same. My favorite part of that particular song has always been the cymbal work in the breakdown just past 2 minutes in, along with the accompanying riff. Again, well done.
