Some of you may remember that I had ordered a pair of custom Strat necks at the end of last year from BYO Guitar's USA Custom Shop.

There was an issue with the first ones that came in (they let a brand new employee who was still in training work on the necks...ugh), BUT the owner of BYOGuitar made right on things and sent me 2 brand new replacement necks he built himself that are pretty dang awesome! Definitely on par with the other top-notch neck makers out there, but with a combination of features no other US-based builder could match!

Unfortunately, I was moving cross-country by the time the replacements arrived and I had already purchased a pair of OEM Fender necks to wrap up the 2 projects I had intended these for. As such, I now have 2 awesome, totally custom, yet completely unused Custom Shop necks that I simply don't have a use for and it's time to find new homes for them!

Here are the specs:
  • Quartersawn Maple
  • 22 Stainless Steel Jumbo frets
  • 12" Fretboard Radius
  • 1-11/16" (43mm) nut width (no nut included)
  • Standard 25.5" scale
  • Standard "Strat" style heel
  • Large "CBS" '70s style headstock
  • Headstock truss adjust
  • Black fretboard binding
  • Black block fingerboard inlays
  • Modern tuner ream (fits most Gotoh, Hipshot, and Schaller style tuners)
  • Modern "D" back profile - similar shape/thickness to '80s Jackson/Charvel & Ibanez "Wizard II" profiles (approx. 19-20mm at 1st fret & 20-21mm at 12th)

Only $325 shipped each (U.S. only)

...or snatch up both necks for just $600 shipped!

Is there any finish on the necks, or are they bare?

Is the CBS headstock the thicker type like they had around 1966+, or the 1970's type?

Great questions!

The necks are currently bare, no finish. They've been safely stored since they arrived and are in the same condition I received them.

As for the headstock, this one was billed as "Large 70s style" by BYOG, so that's what I'm going with. I wasn't aware that there were different versions of the "large" Strat headstock!
