C-5/59 lovers...help me

I've got a guitar that is similar to a Paul in construction, except...neck through body, maple neck, ebony board, and a brass sustain block...even unplugged this is one bright guitar...I was thinking about a C-5 in the bridge and a 59 in the neck to darken this axe a little bit...I like a good bright sound...but this is too bright...I love the Pearly Gates and Seth in my paul...but that would by too bright in theis guitar...any ideas

I don't think either of those will darken up your guitar. Both are alnico 5 pickups with a bright top end. If you want to darken up the tone of your guitar you need a pickup with softer highs and a more pronounced midrange. I'd suggest the alnico 2 Seth Lover and Custom Custom. Lew

Thats what I thought...Alwx at SD said I should try the C-5 and the 59n... Anybody else have any ideas?

A set of Alnico II Pro Hb's is about as smooth and warm as you will get. I highly recommend this set.
