Cab for the Valvetronix, Vox AD212, Avatar, or other?

Well I got the Valvetronix head on Friday. I am looking at spending around $300 on a cab and was leaning toward an 2X12 avatar with black tolex and black grill fabric with Vintage 30's, figure that's about the best match for the head, I don't want some color like red. But I really like the look of the matching cab, and Stratdeluxer seems to like the "Neo-Dog" speakers in the matching Vox cab with his Valvetronix. Then I came upon this auction:

Same head but at an even better deal than I got mine for plus the matching cab and footpedal, and I'm within driving distance. The places that still sell the matching cab have them going for $450, so this seems like a pretty good deal. I'd just sell the extra head. But what do you think, should I spend a little more on the avatar or go with the matching cab? I like the look of everything matching but I don't want to sacrifice tone for looks.

I Love the matching Vox AD 2x12 cab,but I sold the Neodogs and use only V30s with my head....This cab is now loaded w/V30s...To me,the Neos were too tight,and too bright..

If you are looking for the best possible sound, do like Joneser and get a really nice 2x12 or 4x12 if you can. Of course Bogner cabs arent cheap.. I got my Splawn unloaded for $400 shipped, but there is a 3 week wait. Find a couple used V30s for around 150, and you got a killer cab for $550. There are lots of options, just do what works for you.

I got my Splawn unloaded for $400 shipped, but there is a 3 week wait. Find a couple used V30s for around 150, and you got a killer cab for $550. There are lots of options, just do what works for you.

First my limit for a cab is around $300, just can't do much more than that. Plus this thing is pretty much going to be a practice rig only, so I want a decent cab to go with, I don't need a really great cab.

A lot of places don't sell the AD212 anymore since they are discontinued, but the places that do are still selling them for $449. You know of anywhere that has them any cheaper? I've watched ebay for the last couple weeks but I've only seen them come up together with the head like the one I posted above. Would you say that the build quality of the AD212 and an Avatar 2X12 are pretty close?

I've watched ebay for the last couple weeks but I've only seen them come up together with the head like the one I posted above. Would you say that the build quality of the AD212 and an Avatar 2X12 are pretty close?

I've never seen the Avatar cab,but the build quality on the AD 2X12 IS GOOD and I guess it's baltic birch? Don't know of where to get one currently? Got mine from Musician's friend about 2 years ago upon buying the head?
