Personally I thought that it sounded better with a closed back cab, but that is very subjective. IMHO the key to this one is 1)Quality cab, including the Vox cab or any of the others you listed, 2)Not using the neo's as they sounded very sterol and flat 3)Using something like Vintage 30's, G12h30's or some of the many great Eminance speakers.
I ran my 60 head through (2) 2x12's loaded with V30/Texas Heat, V30/Swamp Thang and it sounded huge. My buddy ran his 120 with Vintage 30's.

I have an Earcandy Buzzbomb with a G12H30 and a V30. I actually have the Avatar Hellatones which are the Celestions but broken in then Dave slaps his own sticker over them. Peel them off and the original Celestion label is still on the speaker. I have the AD60VTX combo and I use the cab to make it a 3X12. Earcandys are the best 2X12 I've ever heard. They cost a lot (about $350 empty) and whatever they post on the site for delivery, double the time but it's well worth the wait. I've never heard the Splawn in person, but I hear they are also one of the best 2X12s. When I bought my Earcandy I sold a few of my 4X12s because believe it or not, it sounded more full and had bigger and tighter bass response.

nevermind. Found the price. $539 direct. Maybe ill check for one used. Ive been looking at avatar cabs and runnind 2 212s as a stereo rig as the amp is stereo.
