Cab input wiring

I finished building a two-stroke amp from the book The Guitar Amp Handbook.
Its been a couple of months of running this thing through my combo speaker and I think it is going to be a keeper.

So this week I started building a head box and 2x10 cab. It has been going smoothly...but I've got a question about the cab wiring. I want to be able to use either speaker individually as their own 8 ohm load and also together parallel as a 4 ohm load.

I was thinking of wiring each speaker up to a switching jack and wiring the switching contacts together back to another jack, of course all negs would be wired together.

Just looking at it this will work. But is it a good idea?? all I have ever seen these contacts used for are paths to ground to silence the input of an amp when nothing is plugged in.

umm... what?

you could use switching jacks but im not sure why you would. are you trying to have two individual jacks and one jack for both speakers in parallel?

Re: Cab input wiring

yes, that was the general idea...two individuals and one parallel....is there a better way?
