Cakewalk..Guitar Tracks Pro or Sonar?

I've been looking at some of Cakewalk's stuff since I've heard good things about them. What's the difference between Guitar Tracks Pro 3 and Sonar? Also, is there a squencer included in these and can you use it with other programs (i.e. EZDrummer)?

Re: Cakewalk..Guitar Tracks Pro or Sonar?

I have GTP3 - but not Sonar. I upgraded from Music Creator, and was a little dissappointed that GTP3 didn't support midi - which what I used to create my drum tracks. But now I use drum loops and I am very happy with the sound loops provide.

I can't say for sure, but I think GTP3 is just a watered down version of Sonar. It does everything I want - so I'm happy.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. GTP3 has sound loops I'm guessing, but do you know if you can import other drum samples from other programs?

Yeah, GTP3 comes with a nice assortment of sample loops. I bought more loops from Smart Loops

You can turn any wav file into a loop. But the loops from Smart Loops are acidized, which means you can more easily stretch or compress them to different tempos.

Another thought - regarding Cakewalk products - they are upgradeable. Since I am on their mailing list, I get offers all the time for upgrade specials. So you could get GTP3 for a lot less money, then if you decide you need something with more horsepower, you can always upgrade to Sonar.
