Can a zebra sh-4 be reversed?

Im getting a SD SH-4 JB in zebra color (white on bottom, black on top). Is it possible to take the covers, or bobbins, off and switch them to get a reverse zebra (black on bottom, white on top) ?

Thats not advisable. Just install the pickup rotated 180 degrees.

You could have ordered it reverse zebra.

It's possible, but not advisable. This would likely involve desoldering the 4 conductor wiring, swapping the coils, resoldering, and then wax potting the pickup again. If you have the tools and skills to do all that, go ahead. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Follow Artie Too's thread as he stripped a zebra down to individual parts. Well even if you don't reverse the bobbins, it will be a good educational thread to have so you will know what the procedure is like.

By the way, if this is a new pickup, you'll void the warranty and exchange policy by doing this.

if you have to ask, its probably not a good idea to try it since its not that hard to kill a pup when you tear into it
