Can active humbuckers be split? Wired in parallel?

Re: Can active humbuckers be split? Wired in parallel?

i think no. the emg 89 can, however, it was designed for it

Re: Can active humbuckers be split? Wired in parallel?

emg humbuckers cannot be split LIKE THE WAY passives do. The emg89 can be split with a different way:
actually it consists of a emg85 humbucker AND a emg SA single coil....so when you split the pickup(with the relative potensiometer) you do not split the emg85....you are just selecting the SA ..........

As far as parallel wiring the answer is no..

Re: Can active humbuckers be split? Wired in parallel?

Generally speaking no, but there are circuits from for ex. EMG that supposedly achieve a similar tonal effect ;)

Re: Can active humbuckers be split? Wired in parallel?

The EMG recommended solution befor the 89 came along was to add a toggle switch which switch a series cap in and out of the circuit to cut low frewquencies and simulate the sound of a split coil.
