I will post high resolution close up pictures through a magnifying glass later to help explain this, but I sure could use some help from the wizards on this forum.
I bought a used guitar recently and the neck pickup (Ibanez V1) appears to have a disconnected coil?
It has RED, WHITE, and BARE wire coming out as the main leads. When I ohm out red and white together it's like 5.5k but when i try to ohm from ground to white or ground to red the meter jumps around or does a "countdown to zero" and does not hold a nice fat 9k or 10k or whatever it should be as a humbucker.
I carefully removed all of the tape and bottom cover and I noticed that a red wire INSIDE of the pickup was not connected to anything.
I think I have identified START and END of the super tiny hair thin copper wire that is then attached at the end of its run to a much thicker piece of wire. The main problem is, I do not know where to connect this loose red wire that I found to one of these super hair thin coil wires that I have found.
Thanks to anyone who is kind enough to help me possibly repair this 1990 pickup. I will add pics later and hopefully this makes a lot more sense.
