Can anyone ID this guitar?

Hey all. Was shopping at a little antique shop today and picked up an awesome little guitar for a mere fifteen dollars. I'm totally stumped by the logo on the headstock though. Anyone recognize it? Guitar is a les Paul copy, nice and heavy, very nice binding all the way around (even on the back), and appears to be pretty well made. Curious to see what you all think.

I think you buy it, especially if it's a set neck. I think you don't even call your wife/mom/friend who makes sure you don't g.a.s. out and you pay the man and walk out with that nice looking thing.

See, I'm vicariously buying through you. Is it solid or plywood, looking into the pickup hole? That neck's looking crusty. Is the binding actually laid in or just a sticker?

Having said that, you should still buy it. You can make a few bucks by selling it for $50.

I'm a complete guitar hoarder and even if it had been ply wood I probably would have purchased it anyway, but it's not. This thing is solid and there's barely a scratch on it. Lots of dust and grime but nothing major. Neck is straight, frets are level, all looks well. And that's actually a brass nut =) binding is the real deal too. just stumped as hell on the brand.

I might be wrong but it looks like a Columbus, very similar to the first "LP" I had back when I was a kid. Buit that's a long time ago and the memory is a bit fuzzy. either way grab it. The double Cream Neck pickup intrigues me. it could be that someone put a Dimarzio in there, at which point the pickup is worth a lot mroe than the guitar.

Buy it, fix it, play the bejeebus out of it to charge up it's mojo then give it to me....

The double Cream Neck pickup intrigues me. it could be that someone put a Dimarzio in there, at which point the pickup is worth a lot mroe than the guitar.

Doubt its a dimarzio. The 3 screw pickup rings and flat pole pieces make me think asian generic. Dimarizo trademarks dont apply (nor do they care) in that area of the world.

Yeah that's for sure not any decent pickup. I don't think I stumbled upon something amazing here, just a great deal while I was out and about. The inlays are indeed crooked and where the binding on the body meets the neck binding is a bit sloppy, but the wood is nice and... Well it was fifteen bucks I couldn't pass that up. Anyway thanks for the input and if anyone can Id it, please do. I'm still researching.

Very well made guitars I pulled the PSB pots and installed an rs guitarworkspot upgrade kit.
Mine has the SKY pick ups they are very PAFish.

As soon as I saw the headstock my first thought was Hohner. A mate of mine had one years ago, and I had a black Hohner TE Custom. Great guitars for the money.

Wow you're right on. Thanks very much for the id buddy... I'm really excited now. Already stripped out the old hardware and ordered some new stuff. I'll post some pics once it's all put together.

Seriously, that's an awesome find no matter what you paid. You can't buy a crummy bolt-neck kit for that, and you got 3/4 a guitar (already finished, at that) for what you paid. Good find!

This guitar was made in the Cort Factory in Korea probably some time in the 80s or early 90s. They received many different brand names, including some like this one with no brand name. Hohner L59 was one such brand name. I have an L59 which I recently had a lot of work done on, including a pair of SD Whole Lotta Humbucker pups. This thing really sings now. Great guitar. Great pups.
