Can anyone tell me if this guitar worth or not? PRS Stripped SC 58

I got a message from other guy to trade his PRS Stripped SC58 with my Dean Custom Run Razorback Blacktooth. But I have no idea what that PRS guitar is at all.

I can't find any info about this guitar...ones I can only find are PRS Stripped 58, not SC58. I was wondering what's the differences? I can see one being sold at Ebay for $2400 so it's definitely worthy for me. Do you guys think it's okay to trade with this guy? I don't mind about what styles since I can just sell it for better price than DCR Razorback Blacktooth.

I know very little about PRS Guitars as I personally never really cared for how they play BUT they make great guitars.

I would ask for the serial number and then call PRS to get more info.

Best of luck!

I believe the SC merely means "Singlecut" and its just an addition to the name. Like the SC245.

In PRS terminology 'SC' does in fact mean singlecut. As far as the model confusion, they seem to be the same guitar as explained here.

The SC58 is a great guitar - I believe it's the only singlecut with a separate bridge and tailpiece.

No disrespect to your Dean, but I would pull the trigger on this one; if the PRS isn't your thing you can definitely flip it for something you like better.

That PRS is a great guitar. I'd do it before he changes his mind, but ONLY if you can do it in person or the seller has a large track record and reputation on Ebay or a forum. Don't fall for any scams.

Awesome guitar the PRS. +1 to the trade but only in person.

In person that's a no brainer swap. The PRS is worth more than your Dean so if you like the guitar I'd do the trade and wouldn't look back.

The difference between the stripped 58 and SC58 is aesthetics.

The SC58 was introduced with an artist grade top, binding on the fingerboard, bird inlays, brushed mixed hardware (nickel/gold), rosewood overlay on the headstock, etc. It was pretty pricey, so they later introduced the "stripped 58". Standard top, no neck binding, standard hardware color, no birds as standard, no headstock overlay, etc.

For whatever reason, Paul decided to go back to the SC245 name, and in 2013 as standard it had no neck binding, no birds and a standard top with everything upgradeable (artist package, 10 tops, whatever). it was kind of inbetween the stripped and sc58. In 2014 he added binding to the neck, and birds as standard. I have the 2014 model. In 2015, pretty much the same but the 57/08 pickups were replaced by the 58/15s and IIRC, coil taps.

In any version, these are easily the equivalent in build quality of an old USA Hamer, Gibson Custom Shop model, Dean USA custom shop model, etc. They are fantastic guitars, and sound wonderful.
