can i use a Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm in my marshall dsl5c combo?

Re: can i use a Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm in my marshall dsl5c combo

the combo comes with a 10 inch speaker. the vintage 30 is a 12 inch speaker so it wont fit.

No. The DSL5c has a Celestion Ten 30 10" speaker. Vintage 30s are 12" It won't fit.

The only Celestion speakers you could use that would fit are these:

If you look at the specs (FWIW) the Ten 30 is the 10" equivalent of a Vintage 30, as near as can be.

I'm not sure what you wanted to change by swapping a 30 for a 30.

Re: can i use a Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm in my marshall dsl5c combo

first i want to change is the size,i think 10" maybe it's too small
so,that's not possible?
you mean won't fit is the speaker can not inside the box?or the electric won't run(well)?

Re: can i use a Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm in my marshall dsl5c combo

It physically won't fit due to the size DSL5C enclosure.

I do not think the dsl5 has an 8ohm speaker out, either. I Checked into the that a while back when the amp grabbed my interest.

You can run an extension cab with any speaker you wish as long it is of the correct ohmage. But 12" will not fit into the combo cab, as mentioned.

10 potatoes < 12 potatoes

No that would not fit.

A 12" speaker will not fit into the DSL5c enclosure, so you wouldn't be able to keep it a simple combo amp, you would have to use an extension cabinet. The manual says it's a 16ohm speaker, so you could only use a 16ohm speaker in an extension cab, bypassing the internal 10", since there's only one speaker output.

It will fit if you cut a 1/4 inch slot in the floor of the cabinet. Here's mine with a Veteran 30 inside.

Makes a good amp into a great and much more versatile amp that can actually get you a nice palm mute thunk. Didn't really work with the 10"

Re: can i use a Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm in my marshall dsl5c combo

Did you also have to take the tubes out and replace them with op-amps?

Re: can i use a Celestion Vintage 30 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm in my marshall dsl5c combo

LOL. The tubes just fit if you lean them about 2-5 degrees in their socket and install the speaker rotates so that the tubes are not in line with the metal frame. Once installed there is 2-3mm gap between the glass and the speaker frame. you can check this by slipping some card or a credit card between the speaker frame and the tube to make sure they aren't touching.

If your going to do some tube swapping, it's best to slide the amp chassis out an inch or two so you don't have to fiddle with inserting the tubes at an angle. All works fine, been using mine for over a year now. Plenty of others have done the same thing. It's a common mod.

Someone else took pics of the inside with the tubes and larger speaker here:

As you can see, it is a pretty close fit.

Couple more pics from someone else with Vintage 30. Looks like they also did a choke mod to theirs.
