Can I use an effect pedal in front of my Toneport UX2?

I've been wondering (yes, that happens sometimes :laugh2.

Earlier this week I saw a Rocktron Heart Attack pedal for sale at a danish internet music shop, it had been used for demonstration in the shop, so it was alot cheaper than a new one, so I figured why not buy it, and besides, it's a very cool effect that might be alot of fun, maybe I can use it in the school band as well? :laugh2: :dance:

For those that don't know the effect, it's almost like an auto wah mixed with a bit of phaser or whatever, I can't really explain it, LOL, but you can read about it here, and hear a clip:

Anyway, the reason why I talk about that pedal, is because I want to know if it's possible to use it in front of my Line6 Toneport UX2 for recording? Or should I only use it in front of an amp?

By the way, another question, in what kind of music is this effect mostly used? old disco/funk? I think it sounds really cool and interesting, and I can't wait until I get it, should be a fun toy. I've always wanted a phaser and a wah, but this seems like a mix of the two, as far as I've understood it. If not, then feel free to explain me things :laugh2:

I dig weird/funky pedals. Enjoy it!!! It sounded good on the sample.

Yeah i'd say its mainly used for 'percussive' forms of guitar playing such as disco and funk...really couldnt see any other use for it. Maybe for a different sounding solo too

Yeah, I like weird stuff too, I guess that's why it really appealed to me and it was cheap, so why not?

I think it could be used for some fun and funky rythm stuff, maybe do some different sounding covers?. And auto-wah solos can sound really great as well, but I don't know if it's EXACTLY like an auto-wah, because according to what I could read from the site it's also some kind of phaser, and I've seen a guy who owns one describe as that too, like an auto-wah mixed with a phaser, and then the option to add distortion for a bit more grit. It's cool that you can use it for both guitar and bass as well.

Yep. Works fine. I've tried rangemaster, chorus, wah, and distortion/octave in front of mine and they all worked great.

My favorite tone at the moment is the Vox AC15 model on my V-amp, with my DS-1 providing some extra grit in front.

The only hangup I see would be the inability to put pedals in the "right" order, meaning modulation pedals (like a phaser) usually go after the distortion. However, that's absolutely NO reason not to give it a shot anyway. Lots of guys run all their pedals in front of the amp, and get great tones that way.

Well, it sounds like it should be okay then, I didn't really think about it at the time I bought it, because I only thought about using it in front of one of my amps, but then I got thinking that I maybe would be able to use it through my Toneport too, and you all seem to agree that there should be no problems, so that's good.

That leads me to another question. Does that mean it will sound awkward if I put it in front of my little solid state amp for practice? (guitar output into Rocktron Heart Attack input, and Heart Attack output to the amp's input).

My little solid state Marshall doesn't have an effects loop if that is what you mean with 'putting it after distortion'. But I always thought that you used Wah's and Phaser's and stuff in front of the amp and plug it into the same place as you would plug your guitar into..Will it sound bad?
