Can someone identify this pickup?

I had a repair job done previously on my Strat and the guy sold me a set of used pickups and said they were Duncan SSL-1s'. I recently had the bridge pick-up replaced and wanted to check if any one could tell from the pictures if they look like SD SSL-1s? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Not SSL-1.

Duncan p'ups present a chamfer on their rods, the one depicted does not.

HTH,

Crapppp. How will I even know what pups these are?
well, it doesn't look like a bad p'up either. Show us a DC reading, maybe it could help to narrow it down.

Putting p'up with no sign of identification whatsoever is Fender 101, if your ask me.

HTH,

SSL-1 doesn't. I have one in my strat, bought new from vendor, and it looks exactly like that.

I'd say that is SSL-1.

Look at the photo. The magnets present a chamfer (Duncan calls it "hand-ground magnets"). Plus, it's not the same type of wire. Even the leads are different (waxed). Not to mention the absence of a sticker.

The depicted example presents none of the aforementioned appointments.

So... no, not SSLs. ;)

Damn. you're right with the chamfer. I should have checked mine in better lightning...

So it's not SSL-1.

SSL-1 has exactly similar wires though (waxed and solid).

Re: Can someone identify this pickup?

its an alnico rod strat pup. might sound great regardless of what it is

Re: Can someone identify this pickup?

I tested the pups with a Multimeter and the neck pickup reads 6.16 ohms with the middle pickup reading about 6.39 ohms while the bridge pup (that isn't installed) reads 6.2 ohms. Any ideas?

sounds like a things are in the ballpark to be a good set of pups. is the middle pup rw/rp?

Re: Can someone identify this pickup?

Probably fender 57/62

One other way to tell fender from duncan is that fender neck and bridge pickups usuallu have that white wire on the right. Duncan usually has it on the left for neck and bridge.

welcome to the forum!

thats a hell of a first post

Re: Can someone identify this pickup?

So...
No chamfer on the rods.
No sticker
Reading is in the ballpark
I can't quite tell about the wires

And, I am no expert on what mystery pickups are. It has to be WAY off for me to know.

Do the other 2 pickups have a sticker? It would be odd that all 3 are missing.

Nope other 2 pickups have no stickers too. Just had a chance to take pictures of them. You can ignore the pickup with the sticker as that's a bridge pickup that I swapped out.

Re: Can someone identify this pickup?

Sorry I do not have a higher resolution picture though I had the bridge swapped out to a SD cool rails pup today and the guy installing it said my neck and middle pups were probably Fender 54 pickups as the fourth position was going out of phase when the SD pup was wired in normal mode, so he had to reconfigure the SD pup to be in phase with the other pickups.

My pickup DCRs:
Neck 6.16 ohms
Middle 6.39 ohms
Bridge 6.2 ohms
