Can you actually pull power tubes out off a Fender Twin?

So the Twin comes... with 4 6L6 tubes to produce 85W... can you just pull two of those like in good old EL34 Marshalls and have half the Wattage?
Just askin...

Yep, pull the inside 2 or the outside 2 and disconnect one of the speakers...lowers the volume a little but it's still heavy as hell!

I've run them on one tube if you like massive crossover distortion...very cool for the jaded tonal palate.

I see... thanks for the info... I don't have a twin tho... but I've thought about getting one several times... who knows what the future brings :P

Smoke and burned out output transformers and grid resistors.

I'm not recommending it---but I finished a set after one of the output tubes fell out of the socket. It's not a happymaking thing, but it did work...after a fashion.
