Can you help date this 59b

Back in the late 70’s I was in the Marines stationed in Santa Ana CA. I didn’t know much about guitars at that time but I had bought a SG with P-90’s in it. I wanted to replace the bridge with a humbucker so I bought a Seymour Duncan at a local music store. (I didn’t even know what I had bought)

A few years ago I stopped playing guitar and sold almost all my stuff. I had used that same pickup in a lot of guitars, the 80’s VanHalen clones, Les Pauls, you name it. After I sold my last Les Paul it has sat in a drawer unused. I was going to sell it, but everyone who has seen it says it doesn’t have the SD logo embossed in the bottom plate so it can’t be a SD. So can any of you guys who might be familiar with a vintage model take a look and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance, Steve

My late-70s-era 59s look just like that. The baseplates weren't originally embossed with the logo; I believe that began in the early 80s.
Someone who knows the correct actual date for the logo baseplates will chime in soon, I'm sure.
I've been told the very earliest humbuckers were signed on the back by Seymour, using red marker.

But yours looks correct for late 70s to me.

Thanks for the info. It has always been a good sounding pickup.

I have the exact same pickup with the red ink stamp. All I can say is that it was made between 1976 and 1982. Probably end of 70ies because they started to use the additional winder initial round 1980.
Maybe someone can shed light on the different stamp colours at that time. I have seen red, blue and black.

Thanks for the input. I know I bought in 1978 or 1979.
