Can you help identifying a pedal please !?

Quick question.

Can anyone ID the pedal that he stomps on @ 1m34sec ?

I have my suspicions, but would like to know what you guys think.

Many thanks

Allowing for the stage lighting, the pedal looks mustard yellow with two chunky black knobs. This, I recognise from my teens. The MXR Distortion +.

Re: Can you help identifying a pedal please !?

Closest production pedal I know of is the MXR Phase 100, obviously not the sound he was getting here. My guess is some small boutique dirt pedal. The closest image match I can find is this:

...but it probably won't help as this is a BYOC DIY build. If it is a DIY, they could have put any gain circuit they liked in an orange box.

Looks orange to me, but the lighting is very off (the pedal to our left starts yellow, turns white for a second as the spots come up) so anything's possible.

Old Interweb articles namecheck the DOD FX250. Over the years, this has come in a variety of metal case shapes. The narrow type had control knobs with metal inserts. I do not see those in the video. The wider case had all-black knobs but the flat-covered on/off switch.

The colour of the pedal on the left is as altered as that of the set list taped to the stage. Hence, the pedal is either white or an extremely pastel shade of grey, beige or pink.

From the shape, I would say that the pedal on the left is a BOSS. Unusually, there is no clear sign of control knobs sticking up from its control panel. That points towards the GE-7 Graphic Equalizer, the DC-2 Dimension C chorus or, possibly, a modified NS-2 Noise Suppressor.

I agree that the second pedal is very much in the MXR shape. It certainly looks orange under stage lighting but, when Chris Spencer stomps on it, no whooshing appears. When the photographic flash goes off, the pedal definitely appears yellow.

This was my initial thoughts too . . . the 'older' DOD 250 Preamp. (see below link)

The pedal on the left is a Boss Tuner. I couldn't tell you if it's a chromatic or the regular one.

According to this, his distortion pedal is an original DOD Overdrive Preamp/ 250, which can be orange/ yellow in color.

Re: Can you help identifying a pedal please !?

So as not to prejudice my judgement, I watched the video first and Googled about Chris Spencer afterwards.

The DOD FX250 and BOSS NS-2 came up more than once. (So did the fact that Unsane sometimes hire or borrow backline on tour.) The NS-2 is unusual for BOSS in having three small control knobs, shuffled over to one side, as if a fourth knob ought to be present.

It is easy to imagine that a well-used BOSS NS-2 had lost its original plastic control knobs or, possibly, had them set to the required values and then Gaffa-taped to oblivion so as not to lose the settings.

EDIT - Just seen JTK's post. TU-2 or -3 makes sense.

Brilliant - thank you very much for the link JtK !

Now all i wonder is why he went from a Mesa Recto head to all-out Fender amps ?
