Can you mix magnet in same p-u ????

I was wondering if you put half an alnico 5 and half an alnico 2 or ceramic in the same pickup , precisely saw and adjusted , will the pickup work and will the it benefit of both properties of the two halfs ?

The Duncan 5-2 model is based on this idea. It can be done, but it's not something you should try yourself. Too much heat caused by cutting the magnet could damage it, which would totally change the tonal properties of the magnet.

There's was a past user of the forum that did this on a 'Demon, I can't remember how he split the magnets. I'm wondering if you could simply tape the magnet down (to a table, anvil, workbench), draw a line in the middle, then use a chisel and hammer that into it to split it directly in the middle. That way, you don't have to worry about the heat of a saw blade (or breaking the blade).
I'd love to try a ceramic on the top half of a Custom for the bass strings and an Al 2 on the bottom half for the treble strings.
