Can you paint Livewire single coil covers?

I have been lurking on the forum for a relatively long time, but don't have a lot of experience with replacement pickups so I have just been learning from everybody.

One thread by Lewguitar in particular (https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=73335) has me very interested in getting a set of Livewire Hot singles for my strat. The problem is that they are only available in black and my guitar is Electron Blue with a white pickguard. Aesthetically, I would like to see white pickup covers with my white pickguard.

Is there a good method to paint the Livewire covers? Would this affect the pickups at all? Or, should I just shut up and deal with black covers? :scratchch

Thanks for your help and for keeping this forum a great place to hang and learn without getting flamed constantly.

Anything can be painted and most likely not affect tone at all, especially in active pickups. Most of the Jackson guitars with painted pickups use EMG's since they're easier to paint than non covered pickups

Speaking of which, I plan on getting an EMG David Gilmour set for my Malmsteen strat and paint fake polepieces on the EMG pickups

They are just plastic covers. I don't know what paint to suggest, but there shouldn't be any issue painting them. (I am guessing some good spray would do the trick)

Or get one of your friends who plays Warhammer or something similar to paint a design on it. The Games Workshop paint, while expensive, is very good. If you want a flat color though, spraypaint will definitely do the trick. The best spraypaint I've used is Krylon, but again, it is expensive, though they do make paint designed specifically for plastic surfaces.

If you go to any auto supply store there's Krylon or Duplicolor paint specifically meant to bond to plasic

When did they drop white? I still remember catalogue pictures from a few years ago with white ones pictured...

If you aren't ina big hurry, just keep your eyes open in the Trading Post. I got a pair of the older Livewires that had the white covers.

Thanks for all your help.

Artie, I am not in a hurry so I will keep my eyes open. Thanks for the heads-up.
