I have a few regular humbuckers that are not four conductor for splitting purposes. One is a Rio Grande BBQ. Is it possible to re-wire for coil splitting or do i have to buy a new four conductor model?

Thanks!

It can be done. Personaly my soldering isn't good enough to attempt it.

Yes, if you are decent with your soldering, it can be done pretty easily.

I am not but I have a good tech so I could do this with the 59 and maybe even my BBQ/Texas?

Yes, any decent tech should be able to do it for you. It's just a matter of snipping one wire, and then soldering the extra two wires on to the ends.

It can be done, I have done quite a few of them myself. Be really CAREFUL with the wires coming out of the coils though, If they pull away from the wire the coils wound with, you will be screwed.

First you gotta buy 4c wires. SK is a bood source. Then you gotta open up the pickup, open up the tape and match the fine solder joints at the top of the pickup (top refers to the positioning in the bridge slot, that is when the screw coil are tot he left of the slug coil when you look at it). Then close it. BTW I forgot the specific brand of 3M cloth electric tape, JohnS. and/or Bachtorock would remember.
