Can you sell a pedal?

I have this ridiculous attachment to pedals I've purchase even if I don't use them ... or worse yet, even if I don't like them.

Does anyone else suffer from this affliction?

Somehow I'm going to have to force myself to get rid of a half dozen or so to finance another acquisition.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I have a few pedals that I don't use currently, SD-1, DD-6 and a chorus. Also an ISP Decimator which I bought as a second gate originally but since then I modded my amp so its silent on the lead channel so I don't need to use two in my setup. I don't think I'll sell them cos I might need them in another band in the future, or for recording. If I find a pedal has no use to me or I don't like the sound then I would sell it. Depends how much I've used it, and how much use it will get in the future.

I've had some pedals displaced recently.

I've gone through periods when I found it difficult to get rid of any pedals. I didn't care how redundant they were or how much I didn't like them. I thought I needed as many pedals as I could get... for science.

Now I don't mind culling for redundancies. I recently sold off some pretty good pedals because I now had things that were better at those tasks.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

Depends on whether there is some outside possibility that whatever unique sound a particular pedal makes MIGHT be needed for a future recording Project.

The hardest part is taking the financial hit on a relatively new pedal. Whenever possible, I attempt to make trades.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I've actually been pretty good about selling pedals. I've sold off maybe 10 total, and haven't regretted any of them. I've also been lucky in the sense that there were a few I put up for sale which never sold, and they ended up as an important part of my board later.

That potentially could have happened to any of those you didn't regret selling.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

So far i haven't had to sell any, but im not apposed to it. But then again, its not like most of my pedals are worth much. My nicest are some of my favorites, so they aren't going soon.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

If I actually dislike a pedal, it's gone as soon as I find something else I want need trading fodder. The ones I like but don't currently use are harder to get rid of. Historically, if I like something but haven't used it in a while, shortly after I sell it I start wishing it was still there because it perfectly suits the sound I want at that time.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I have literally only sold like 2 pedals. A Boss OS-2 and a Toadworks Mad Dog fuzz. I have every other pedal I've bought I think. Most are rarely used, but very interesting pedals.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

If I buy a pedal and don't like it, its returned or sold. But, if a new pedal replaces one from my board, I do keep the old one. Also, I will keep every pedal that was/is a gift from my kids till the day I die.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

Well, that is amazing ... no lifelong attachments! However, you have an advantage - if you miss one you can build it!

It's ironic that the PlexiTone has become one of my core pedals.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I recently got another BB Preamp as it was one that I regretted selling as I didn't think I gave it enough time. I guess another one I should have kept was the Green Rhino. However, in the last 18 months I have sold a few and given some away to people I know who hadn't got much spare cash.... No regrets about those.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I need to stop buying distortions, OD's, and Fuzzes and finding some more modulation and delay and reverb effects. My second and 3rd pedal boards will not get built on dirt boxes alone.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I think I need to clarify... I've returned pedals that I didn't jive with, but once it's mine, it's mine.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

Shipping has gotten so expensive that if its not a $150+ value sale, I'll be keeping it from now on or just sell craigslist.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I sell from time to time. I'm addicted to overdrive and distortion pedals. I'm always buying and selling dirt boxes.

Re: Can you sell a pedal?

I guess my biggest problem is intertia. I don't really have a problem selling stuff that I don't use, mostly with taking pictures and the other details involved in selling something. Right now I have half a dozen items (pedals, guitar parts, amps, etc.) or more that I should list for sale and just haven't got around to doing so.
