Hi,

Im gettin ready to buy a Line 6 POD Unit but I just can't seem to decide on which one to get. Anyone know if the POD XT is worth the extra 100 bucks? Any big differences between the XT and the 2.0? :help: :headbang:

XT all the way but be warned. The presets are marginal. You will need to spend time tweaking sounds. With tweaking the sounds far exceed what v2 is capable of and are outstanding. I only use mine for recording and once tweaked out I seriously doubt more than a select few could tell the difference in a blind comparison with live amps.

I had been using a Marshall JCM2000 head and a 4X12 recording with my old band... I thought the sound was pretty good. When my friends heard my material w/ the XT they all immediately asked about my rig- they thought it was my new VHT or I'd bought a Diezel. When I said it was an XT they didn't believe it.

I don't have much experience with the 2.0 but I think the POD is a great deal at $299. Like Curly, I paid $399 and thought it was probably worth it. $299- no brainer. Get the XT!!

I'm going to buck the trend. I like the Boss GT-6. More usable models, and you get the advantage of having stand alone effects that you can use live, in addition to being able to use the models live....all at the tap of a footswitch. I bought the POD (2.0), and took it back. IMO the GT-6 does all the POD can and more. $399 (new) well spent.

I'd listen to Jeff there also, I have no experience with anything Line6 but the Gt-6 i have played with for a good while (friend owns one) and you can get tons of killer tones out of it, great amp models and effects..And very very usable live and as simple to setup in a live situation as a single wah pedal ...

I own both, the XT is far better

even better than the Pod XT is the Vox Tonelab, that's where I"d put my money

Re: Can't make up my mind... Line 6 POD 2.0 or Line 6 POD XT

i'd go with the tonelab as well if i had my way but i didn't know we were giving other options when i first posted...

Just for a bit more help if you click my link below to "my soundclick" lots of those clips are done with my pod 2.0. They should all tell you what they were with anyway in their descriptions.

Stratdeluxer's review of the Vox Tonelab didnt make it seem all that impressive, but do try it out before you buy, and definitly try out the Boss GT-6 also, that things great...

The XT is upgradeable with 'model packs'...3 are out now, and more are coming.

Well I went to Guitar Center yesterday to buy me a POD XT and wouldnt you know it?.. they were all out of the POD XT's and I got the whole "we can order you one" line. :smack: grrrrr lol Since they were out I ended up giving them my phone number and they are supposed to track one down for me at another one of their store lacations. Guitar Center has never been known for good quality service so I guess we will see what happens.

With the XT you can get the 2.0 upgrade and buy the model packs, which gives you every amp model and almost all the effects that are in the Vetta. Xt over the 2.0 anytime!

Just got the POD XT last week in lieu of complaints from my neighbors. It is awesome. You have to spend time adjusting the pre-sets to get what you like, but once you've done that, you have some really, really sweet tones. Additionally, you 4 blank spots for your custom amps, etc. I've already gotten mine figured out - took 2 days.

There are tons of cool things available with that unit (as well as through the additional plug-ins), and at $299, it is a sweet deal. I would buy a decent set of headphones and jam away!

Lee Moore

P.S.> I've also hemmed and hawed about things like these, but I finally gave in. The price is too good not to step-up to the technology. I, like you, asked the very same question last year - the $399 price tag scared me away. At $299, you can't go wrong.

If you need one ASAP, order through Musician's Friend. They still have units for sale.

I actually got a pretty good set of headphones I think. I have some Sennheiser HD-280 Headphones. :32:
