Carbon Graphite Guitar Necks and Bobidies

Diminished Triad

New member
Can anyone tell me the average weight of a carbon/graphite steinberger or strat (if they exist) type guitar, what is the full weight from any of these companies?
Looking to buy one for a great young bass player if true they are a fraction of the weight of wood - seems hard to believe can be as light as some articles suggest. Can the total weight of a strat actually be less than 3 pounds, ever?
Thank you!

You want a six string or a bass ?
The strat style Steinberger bodies [ full bodied ] are made of wood like any other guitar. The carbon fibre part is the neck. I have an M series bass. it's a wooden body with a headless carbon fibre neck. it's no lighter than most other guitars.

The full body guitars haven't been made for years and are probably pricey .

This sounds like they were talking rubbish.

I have used many Steinbergers, and many guitars with wood bodies and graphite necks. Graphite isn't always lighter than wood. My Steinberger ZT3 is about 7.5 pounds. About the same as my M-bodied Spirit was. If you want something really light, you have to spend lots of $$, for a Parker or a Gittler or something like that.
