The ones I had in my seven string weren't nearly as good as the duncans/dimarzio I put in.
Though, I'll give Carvin credit in that their stock pickups aren't terrible...just average. I'd say the ones I had were on par with the stock gibson 496r and 500T pups that were originally on my les paul.

Carvin pups are very hifi sounding. I had the H22s in my DC127. They were very dark and clear. With my Tremoverb, I could get some very Beast From the East Lynch tones. A little delay and it was really cool for wanking off. However, I ended up with an A2P/JB combo in the guitar.... It sounds much better now. I will say that the Carvin pups sounded better split than any other pups I've used.

The stock pups in my SC90 (M22 series) were better than I expected, however the PG /Blues saraceno pups I put in, sound stunning!!!
Their Ap11 singles are very good, just kinda ugly with all the screws.
They have a "new" bridge bucker (c22b or something like that) that is supposed to be a very nice sounding pickup..

The stock pickups in my DC727C are definately good. They cover everything from Metal to Jazz, which is what I use it for. The bridge pickup isnt as tight as I want it and the neck pickup is ok, so I'm going to put an Air Norton 7 in the Neck and a D-Sonic 7 in the Bridge. But all in all, I like them.

My CT4 came with the C22 pickups and I gave them a shot for over a month. The comparison to Gibson 490s is the same thing I thought. A nice all around pickup but not real focused. I installed a CC/Jazz combo and it really brought the guitar to life. It went from a useable axe to my #1.

I've had a few (came in used guitars I got), and I have nothing but bleh to say about any of them. I can't imagine leaving one in a guitar any longer than it took to find a different pickup.

Hey bro,
I absolutely love carvin guitars, but i do have to tell you the pickups they make are just so so. I swapped them out and im very happy i did. I play metal and honestly they weren't tight, hot, or articulate enough for the type of music i play. I got some lace drop and gains and am much happier. They are the hottest pickups i know of, and i mean emgs sound kind of weak comparitively. Also it is extremely dynamic, almost moreso than i would like, although it responds according to how you play which is what a pickup should do. Anyways, my point is that most carvin pickups don't satisfy most people completely but most get by with them ok. If you want great cleans get a low output pickup, and if you like metal like me try out the lace drop and gains. I play in B (BF#BEG#C#) and the bass is still tight.

I love the C22B and the "New" C22J neck pickup in my CT6M California Carved Top. The C22B is like a JB with more bass and the new C22J neck pup is like a Full Shred but not quite as trebly. These are my favorite passive humbucking pups bar none!
If you try them, You'll probably love 'em. As far as Carvin pups not satisfying most people, that's a crock of s**t! Chill out for a second, i didn't anywhere in there say they were bad. My only point was that most people i have met who own carvin guitars like me find the pickups to be good but not great, and therefore commonly swap them out to get closer to the ideal tone. I never said people don't like them, but people i've talked to don't end their tone quest with them. If you dig them great frehley, but i don't much appreciate being bitched out for trying to lend my two cents to a fellow guitar player.
