Cascading the channels in a two channel amp?

I am looking to get more growl outta my non master volume Traynor amp.I have heard that you can cascade the 1st channel into the second channel. Would this be much different than simply using aaan Overdrive effects pedal like a tube screamer? If so, that would save some time and trouble-just to plug in a TS9.

I'd just throw a pedal at it in all honesty, cascading channels might be some serious mod work. I don't have any clue about that though.

it can be done and it might be cool. how old is the traynor? old and hand wired? if so a tech should be able to do it pretty easy if he can find a schematic. this is kinda the way old boogies worked, you are adding extra gain stages. not sure if itll get you where you want to be or not but itll up the gain.

its much easier to get a pedal
