Cases: SKB plastic or TKL wood??

Here is a question that no one has polled (that i have seen anyways). Which cases do you prefer SKB style molded plastic or TKL style wood cases with tolex covering?
I personaly prefer the look of the TKL style, and I think the wood cases is better for keeping your guitars safer in extreme weather conditions. But I have to admit, that I have seen someone back a truck over an SKB case and it survived with only a tiny dent in the moulding. I am sure a Wood case would have been crushed for sure.
So which case would you pick if you had the choice??

I have seen those plastic molded SKB cases with cracks and huge holes in them.

Absolutely go for a high quality wood case if you have the cash. A much better investment than saving $50.

I own both, don't see any drastic security differences one over the other.

+1. I've used SKB's alot in the past. Sure, they're tough, but just wait until your case sees direct sunlight for a little too long. That plastic warps and pulls right out of the metal seals. Call me crazy, but wood doesn't do that. Plus, if its raining neither are that great really and only the SKB-type will warp after being in the sun, even for a reasonable amount of time, IMHO.

SKB guarantees their cases for life, get them to replace it if it warped real bad.

SKB, and TKL cases aren't even in the ball park with G&G when it comes to build quality. G&G cases aren't cheap, but they are the best.

i'd say it depends on the usage ... if you will be moving your gear yourself, including loading the vehicle, setting up onstage, tearing down, reloading the vehicle and loading out, i'd say the lower price racks are ok - especially if you are a low frequency gigger ... i use SKB and am very happy with them because the above description fits me to a T ... if i was gigging frequently, and had roadies tossing my gear around and it was rattling around a van/truck for hours and hours on the road, i'd go for the heavy duty stuff ...

good luck
