Catalinbread SFT and Orange TT = nice little rig

So I usually play Fender amps, a Twin or a Super. I had to have surgery last week so I brought my little Orange TT and a 1x12 cab with a greenback up to the bedroom so I could keep myself busy while I'm recovering. I hadn't played it in a while. It's loaded up with NOS glass though and it sounds pretty good, I should play it more. Anyway, I put a Catalinbread SFT in front of it and it just sounds great. I have the amp set just on the verge of breakup. Gain around 9-10 o'clock. Tone set low, about 9 o'clock. The SFT is an awesome OD pedal, it's got very wide ranging EQ controls and it has a ton of clean boost if you need it. And it's thick meaty clean boost, not thin clean boost if you know what I mean. There's no harsh sounds with this pedal. The tone has me playing Stones sticky fingers tunes with a strat. Just wanted to share this recipe with you guys.

Sounds like a nice lil setup! If you ever get a chance, try the supercharged overdrive. It goes from a nice overdrive to nice distortion. Interacts very well with the guitar's volume too. Compliments both my Orange heads nicely so I'd assume it would work wonderfully with the TT... get better soon!

Thanks I'm healing up nicely! Getting restless though. I think I may have this amp modded so it's the circuit from a fat channel of a Dual Terror, just needs a little more grunt and I would be really happy with it. I also think it could benefit from an oversized 1x12 with a closed back. I have tried it with a 4x12 and the amp sounds better pushing a single low wattage speaker IMO.

I built my son an SFT clone for his bass. I really should try it out and see what it'll do on my Teles.

I think you will love the SFT with a tele. I'm not a high gain player so I don't tun the gain up too high, but it does do that smooth Ampeg dirty tone well when the gain is turned up high. I find with humbuckers the high gain tones really nail the Mick Taylor tone. The big fat clean boost is where it's at with this pedal IMO. It adds lots of girth and when used in conjunction with various degrees of drive, you have a lot of tones available. This is my favorite pedal for goosing an amp on the verge of breakup or an amp dirty enough to be just beginning to crunch. I know it seems like I'm gushing about this pedal but it really is that good.

I completely dig my CAtalinbread SUpercharged Overdrive. It's a little sportier than the SFT I believe. I use it on my Pro Jr.

Glad you're digging it.

What I like about the SFT is the ability to play 'under' the gain even at the highest settings - meaning by lightening up your pick attack it cleans up but you always feel the potential of the gain as it sits in the background. Dig in hard and it expands like a balloon. Good times.
