This category is for the only true "electric guitars." Any guitar with passive pickups isn't really an "electric guitar" now is it? It is simply a guitar with transducers, built by wrapping many coils of copper wire around a permanent magnet, like microphones mounted under the strings.

Anybody related to Rob Turner gets 50 bonus points.

Active pickups are no better or worse than passives. They're just different.

This is from someone who loves the EMG 57/66 set in his seven string.

How did you coin that definition? Does anyone care? I think you are 60 years too late, or maybe longer (since Charlie Christian amplified his guitar for the first time).
