CC's, 59's or Pearly's in Bridge?

Hey gang,

I have an Sg standard and I want to emulate Derek Trucks, Clapton/Beano and Billy Gibbons. I'm thinking of keeping the neck pick up which sounds pretty clear, contrasting ther reports on muddiness, and then get a new pup to fatten and warm up the bridge. I've heard about the Custom Custom, '59 and the Pearly Gates. What would you guys roll with?

well...IMO a CC is gonna be too much for the classic tones you are after, don't get me wrong, the CC is a great pickup, I use one and love it, but it is not waht I waould call a classic souding pickup. On to the PG, the PG's (both neck and bridge) are my favorite PAF style pickups period, BUT, again, IMO the alnico II magnet pickups can be a tad thin in an SG...SG's have a small, this light weight body and I think that they need a pickup with some thicker bottom. I would point you towards a 59...a 59 set of one of the most under-rated pickup sets ever...try them and see what you think!

good luck
