Celestion Blue VS Weber Blue

When I get my Laney VC30 2X12 i was thinking of changing out the speakers
I thought maybe the weber because they make it in 30 watts (giving me more heardroom) but tone wise does it compare to the sweetness and clssic awesome brit tone of the celestion?

The Weber is not as bright and not as lively. It's still a very cool speaker but the Celestion G12 alnico beats it.

I've compared them many times and the Weber has that "thumby" quality to the mids that the Celestion has but it's not as bright and breathy.

I have some old 60's Celestion G12 alnicos too...and those beat out the new reissue.

But the new reissue beats out the Weber...although the Weber is a very nice speaker.

Just wanted to add that, IMO, there is no finer speaker for a 5E3 Fender tweed Deluxe style amp (or clone) or a Vox AC-30 type amp (or clone) than the Celestion G12 alnico blue. And that the Weber version also sounds excellant in those amps...though not quite as bright and lively. Lew

What speaker for a Fender Pro Junior (i still love that british el84 sound like the pro junior is but it has a bit more tweed bite)

I really like my Weber Alnico Blue, but I have to face the facts, the Celestion Alnico Blue is the end-all Vox, low wattage type speaker. There simply isn't anything sweeter and nothing else really nails it. The problem is the cost (they are very expensive) and if you're spending almost as much money on the speakers as you do on the amp, then there's something not quite right there.
