I was looking for speakers that would replace Eminence Legends in Soldano Lucky 13. I found Celestion G12 Vintage Neodymium from Avatarspeaker.com website. I called David and asked about it. He said it is very highly recommend for dirty blues/rock/metal type music. He also mentioned that it weights only 3.5 lb. I remembered my Soldano weighting 75 lb and if I get two of these, my amp gonna lose 20 lb (that's quite diet!). So I ordered two but Dave made mistake and only one was shipped to me. I couldn't wait so I installed it in my beloved Traynor YCV 40 1X12. Installation was easy because it was so light (unbelievably light!). The tone was ... the best speaker I've ever heard. I tried webber, greenback, vintage 30, 70/80 in that amp. This speaker smoked all of them. Clean is tight and crispy. Dirity channel got smoother top and very responsive bass. There appears to be certain volume drop. Anyway, I was up until 3 am this morning because I couldn't stop playing. Now my mighty Traynor is even mightier (and unblievabley lighter). Highly recommended!!!!
If you have 4X12 cab (especially mesa recto cabs) and you are not a rockstar (which means you have to carry your cab), G12 vintages would reduce the weight significantly while improving the tone. (Also, it looks cool from behind)
Cheers.
