Ceriatone Overtone Special

Ceriatone does a pretty lousy job describing their amp models. Can anyone tell me the difference between the:
Overtone Special
Overtone S&M Special
Overtone HRM
Overtone HRM Bluesmaster

I know they are all based off of the Dumble ODS. And I know they are based off the evolution of Dumble's circuit... but that's all i know. any body have any clue?

Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special

Eachone is just a subtle tweak for a slightly different feel and response.

Email Nik and ask him, he has always been very helpful with me in the past.

Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special

Overtone is the 80's ODS Dumble. S&M is a brighter version. HRM is the 90's ODS Dumble, with the extra tone circuit post-gain, and more overdrive available. The HRM seems to the ticket.

Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special

Okay i spoke to Dave - my student. He just finished building his second HRM - but this time tweaked to his taste. I told him about your problem and asked him how he found out what he needed to know....
He researched Dumble and Dumble amps in particular, apparently all his amps were evolutionary designs such as the hot rubber monkey (HRM -his royal majesty). So he suggested you find out all you can about which Dumble you would choose first, and then the appropriate Ceriatone kit will be easy to pick!

hey thanks guys. just got back from spring break. definitely gonna have to do some more research.

TGWIF.... you would have a connection at ceriatone. lol

Nope...just always talked to Nik.

Are you looking for answers or are you actually amp shopping??

I ask becasue Dumbles are not for everyone and if I were you, i'd try a D Clone first...there are a few in Atlanta you can try.

Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special

i'm doing a little bit of both. i was thinking about possibly selling my motorcycle. it's gonna be hard to part with but insurance is expensive and i need the money for school. but i'll have some extra cash to blow on gear. i was thinking either a Collings D-3 (always wanted one) or a new amp.

I've played a few D-style amps before and I really like them. they're completely unforgiving but my playing has matured alot in the past few years.

Well...if you're into the idea thats cool.

Nik makes a great amp and is a good guy to deal with.

I have not tried any of his D style stuff but his JTM-45 is killer and so are many of his other amps! I'd say if you want the D thang Nik can hook you up!
