CGord attempts to solo w/a backing track! Oh, the humanity!

Ok; I actually tried to take soloing seriously this time. I laid down a little 3-chord progression, & tried to wank over it while staying somewhere near the backing track. It's all improv, one take, with no editing except to drop in the chorus riffs & the 2-track intro dives. Most likely, that will be glaringly obvious. :D I also fooled around with the phaser & posted a version of each, one with, one without.

Rythym guitar is the Hellraiser, lead is the NOW INTONATED! RG410.

Lemme hear it! Should I stick to being a rythym guitarist & let go of my dreams of hogging the spotlight? :reporter:

Some interesting choices!
I will say that whammy tricks seem to have more impact when done less often ;)

It's a bit Slayer like. Fast, doesnt make much music sense, but sounds really cool. Like the above - Interesting choices.

The tone is nice... but you really need to learn some scales...

EVH does nice solos and he says he doesn't know scales...

a. I am not sure I believe him.
b. Most of us are not EVH.

Hmm. Well I won't comment on the solos because I'm not that good with a wammy bar (yes, I like that name for the trem arm), but I like it. Then again, I sat here listening for like forever trying to tell the difference between no phase and phase. I think the no phase sounds brighter, and honestly that's the first one i listened to. Otherwise, I guess it's up to you then, but I like it!

I have never put any real time into learning anything about playing solos (which is obvious) besides some fun little tricks here & there. These are just my leftover shred aspirations from, say, 1989. I can't play a scale, but I can do a good horse, elephant, & housefly! :D

It's nice to see a good tone comment, as the tone on my first solo clip got resoundly trashed! :chairfall
