Can someone refer me to a good video or a website that walks you through how to change strings? I've never changed them before and i'm having a
b!tch of a time.
I've been going by this website on how to wrap the strings to the tuners and it doesn't seem to be working right.

I have a winder and cutters and all that. So can you guys offer me a quick tutorial, any tips, or a better website that walks me through it with pics or a video?
Thanks, I surely appreciate it. Cheers :beerchug:

Re: Changing guitar strings 101

Dan Erlewine's book "How To Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great" has some great tips on stringing guitars, along with loads of other stuff on setting up your guitar, basic repairs and adjustments etc. Highly recommended.

Re: Changing guitar strings 101

thats a good article. the point about tuner slack is a great point to consider when tuning a guitar.

Re: Changing guitar strings 101

Can someone tell me a little about stretching the strings? That Taylor aricle talks about it a little but doesn't provide much detail.
I'm wondering how many times you pull each string and when you know that you don't need to stretch them anymore.
Thanks for all the info.

Re: Changing guitar strings 101

Just pull them up gently and tug them a few times......gently. Then tune up and play some. Repeat a few times and you should be there. Don't pull on them real hard, you could possibly break the core in one of the wound strings.
