Changing magnets

I was wondering where you can buy pickup magents? Also I wondered if anyone has changed the magnet in the alt 8 and how they liked it? What is involved in changing the magnet?

Re: Changing magnets

Wow, I thought it would be a lot easier since so many people on here have done it.

It's an EXTREMELY easy process. On an uncovered pickup it takes me about 5 minutes. I don't repot the pickup totally but I do use a heat gun to re-melt the wax in the coils and re-seal it.

I sent a alt 8 to super rad stuff with a a-5 mag in it. He said it had less lows, and a more "scooped" sound to it. Still very powerfull.

Re: Changing magnets

the alt.5 was too scooped. i took it right out and kicked it to da kurb:smokin:
i tried it in an SG though, so there wasn't any mids because of the magnet, and no highs because of the way an SG is. so it was all lows through a midrange-centric guitar which sounded kinda lame.
